Prakash Singh
Prakash Singh has been a very distinguished officer of the Indian Police Service. He was police chief of two states—Uttar Pradesh and Assam—and commanded the Border Security Force.
He contributed to combating the insurgency in Nagaland, containing the threat of ULFA in Assam, neutralizing the terrorist movement in Punjab and the Terai area of Uttar Pradesh, and tackling the separatist elements in Jammu and Kashmir. The Government of India, in recognition of his outstanding services to national security, awarded him the Padma Shri in 1991. He was also member, National Security Advisory Board (2013–14).
